ANYONE who knows me knows I’m a massive football fan so working with Chelsea Football Club for two events was a real highlight of 2025, we’ve still not managed to get a football player actually on the beach yet but BRING ON 2026 for making this happen!
BEACH CLEAN, one particularly memorable beach clean was raising money for the Sameer Project in Palestine.
COMMUNITY CRAFTS EVENINGS and Plastic sorting parties, getting people involved helping me with my business has been a real game changer this year.
DOING GOOD BEFORE WORK SERIES, Really proud of these super early morning beach cleans we did before people went to work. Sponsored by Savills.
EVENTS with the University of Cambridge, they found me on instagram which was super cool!
FIRST EVER EXHIBITION at Southwark Cathedral with Washed Up Cards and Lara Maikem.
GETTING my first sponsor with Savills. They also brought loads of co branded Washed Up cards for all their new homes.
HOTEL Getting a free weekend at a spa hotel who saw a post when things were tough. They also ordered 250 Christmas cards for the Distinct hotel group staff.
IMPACT, 59 events and 330 bags of rubbish. Bringing people together helping them connect with nature, improving mental wellbeing all while tackling the plastic crisis with hope.
JUGGLING I find this one of the hardest things running what feels like two businesses (the cards and the events side) but I am learning to let go more and ask for more help
KIT- Lugging around all my beach bags on rush hour trains covered in mud
LONDON HEREOS - Being named in top 50 London Heroes of 2025
MY LOW POINT was losing a whole load of rubbish I’d collected, washed and sorted for the sculpture I was making and all of it going missing from the shed outside my flat
NGOMAKUIRRA learning how to ABSEIL in Zimbabwe, second scariest thing I’ve done in 2025, thanks to the best teacher Matt Donovan.
ONE HUGE DIFFERENCE- Jemima and Anna now help me make my cards. I love the card making and still find it super therapeutic but it takes 70% of my time and brings less than 30% revenue so makes sense to let go of that so I can focus on the other side of running this business.
PARLIAMENT -pinch me moment being invited to Westminster to talk about our campaign to ban single use plastic cups with In Th Drink
QUIRKY FINDS - 80s Skittles wrappers, plastic crisps, and the odd sex toy.
REPAIR SHOP - one afternoon struggling to find momentum working I had a break and guiltily started watching some daytime TV. BBC repair shop was on and a guy called Neil Ragg was on the show making bags from upcycled materials. I loved his bags and messaged him on instagram asking if he could help me make a beach clean kit bag and he got back to me and said YES!
SHARK SCULPTURE - Without doubt the most challenging and rewarding thing I’ve ever done. Lost rubbish, studios falling through, working with the awesome talented Goldsmiths grads Jemima and Anna. I am BEYOND proud of baby Eugene, the spurdog shark that lives in the Thames we made from plastic waste. I hope Eugene helps highlight the dangers of plastic pollution in the Thames and at the same time celebrate the amazing hidden wildlife in our river. She’s currently in Barclays bank but will be swimming down the Thames this spring so keep a look out.
TEE SHIRT- First time designing some branded stuff for me to wear at events was super fun with the huge talented Charlotte Macmillan Scott.
UCL NO SHOW - being asked to do a talk and no one showing up. Things always come round and I am so glad I said yes despite feeling bummed at the time as I am now going to be doing some beach cleans this year with the University.
VOLUNTEERING MYSELF in Lourdes in the Pyrenees with adults and children with special needs.
WINDSURFING in Vaeliki, and Surfing in Devon, Cornwall and Pembrokeshire. Taking time out is so important and if it's spending time in the water it’s even better.
XMAS - moving my flat and business was a real task in the busiest week of my year at Christmas but we got there eventually.
YOU LOT the community, supporters, and friends who help me on my mission with Washed Up Cards. Special thank-yous to Claudia, Poppy, Tom, Matt, Clare, Harry, Kiren, KJ, Eve, Jazzy, Angie, Charlotte, Sally, Andrea, Jemima and Anna.
ZAMBEZI. Rafting down the River Zambezi in Zimbabwe, defiantly the scariest but most fun thing I did in 2025
